How to plan a housewarming party?

The move was as difficult as you’d expect and even worse. It was stressful and it was tiresome. A few things were blocking you, but at the end of the day, you were able to fix it all. You and your professional movers were able to overcome everything and the move is done. You are home now, unpacked and ready to go back to normal. What is there left to do? Plan a housewarming party, of course! Now, that all the stress has passed, it’s time to have some fun. This is for you and your friends, as well as new neighbors. It is the perfect time for all to celebrate the successful completion of your relocation, and it doesn’t matter if you were moving your home or you used Brooklyn office moving services.

If you want to plan a house warming party you need to bring out some drinks!
A celebration is in order! Bring a few drinks to the table.

If you want to plan a housewarming party – you might go back to being under stress. This is wrong and this is something that should not happen. You have had enough stress as it is. This is something you should enjoy. In all honesty, if it becomes a stressful task for you maybe you should reevaluate how you are going to do it. Planning a party is fun. Furthermore, planning a party should be fun. And if you place this mindset, it will be fun! Let’s get into it.

If you want to plan a housewarming party, you should…?

You should find a way to have fun. This party is about you! Of course, it is about the people being invited as well, but it is about you and your celebration. The main mistake people make when they plan a housewarming party is that they make it about everyone else. This is wrong. It should be entirely about you, and everyone else is taking part. Feel free to celebrate your move in the best way you see fit. Choose the food you like, and the music you like and make it about you and your family.

The people you are going to celebrate with are usually people close to you and know and share tastes with you. This means that if you make it about you, your guests will most likely enjoy it as well. I know it’s been like that with my personal example. I organized an event that I know me and my friends enjoy, in regards to food and music. Why face post-moving depression when you can have a post-move celebration!

One of the key elements of a housewarming party is some good music!
Music is the crown jewel of every party. Especially if you can turn the volume up a bit.

The only scenario where this is not fully applicable is when you wish to invite and meet the new neighbors. In this case, you can’t really go with whatever you like since it could be something that the people around you highly dislike. But then again, this would then be kind of a networking event, and it should be as ‘bland’ as possible until you get a feel for the people around you. Who knows, maybe you share the same interests, and maybe you don’t. You won’t know until you meet them!

Calculate the number of people you wish to invite first

The first thing you should do is analyze how many people you wish to invite. If you want to plan a housewarming party properly, you need to account for how many people are coming. After this, you should assess who is coming – are they strangers, new people from the block or are they your friends. Based on this you will be able to figure out the amount of food and drinks, as well as the type of food. Furthermore, if you have more people than your place can handle, you can find some cheap storage NYC to temporarily move some of your belongings.

When I did it, I made sure to get some catering from a local restaurant. Cooking for 50 people is a nightmare, especially if you consider that you do not save that much money this way. Catering services are quite affordable these days, so you would save an incredible amount of time while you get very good quality food. When I did it, I was doing it for a very close group of friends and it had to be sushi, which means that I was not going to cook anyway. We all love it, I love it, and it was simply perfect for the occasion. But this was because I knew very well the people that were coming. It is up to you to know what your friends love it. If it’s people you don’t know, then go with something safe and mainstream.

Oh, and keep in mind that amongst those strangers you might find vegetarians and vegans. Make sure you have something on a plate that they could eat as well. Otherwise, you will end up feeling pretty bad.

You want to plan a housewarming party to happen around 7 pm

This is the best time to start, without having to keep your guests until late at night. People usually get off work around 5 pm, and by the time they get home and relax a bit its already past 6 pm. You don’t want to do this right after people’s work, but you don’t want to do it late at night either. This is why 7 pm is a perfect balance. This way you should have the vast majority of your guests cleared by midnight while having solid 5 hours of socializing. Plus, in this time window, you are able to play a little bit louder music as you won’t, most likely, trouble anyone around you.

Lot's of food for lot's of guests. A definite go to!
And, the third magic ingredient is food.

Also, people will be fresh and not too sleepy, so you will have time to exchange with some of them and have an enjoyable conversation. This is especially important if its people you have never met that you have invited.

All in all, try to enjoy it as much as you can. It should be fun for everyone, but above all, you deserved this. You should enjoy it.

Have fun!

These guys are TRUE PROFESSIONALS! We've now moved with them twice (once in 2017 and then again this week) and we really can't say enough good things about them. Simi is incredibly easy to work with for scheduling and quotes, and the crews - John, Super Mario, and everyone - are just awesome. They're quick, incredibly careful and conscientious, and super friendly. If we ever move again (and god I hope we don't have to) we're absolutely calling them.
