Before moving to Manhattan from Brooklyn, we'd like you to know...

Moving to Manhattan from Brooklyn

As everything else in New York, moving house tends to be a tad expensive. So, when you’re making a relocation from Brooklyn to Manhattan, you naturally look for the best movers in NYC and seek an affordable quote. If you’ve been following our blog, that will be the easy part. There are plenty of movers in New York to choose from. So, what is it that you should know before moving to Manhattan from Brooklyn? Well, you ought to know a bit about this kind of a scenery change before committing, right? Hence, we’ve got some things for you to think about before ringing affordable movers in New York…

After the transportation in Brooklyn, Manhattan is a dream come true

Manhattan has a great location with its amazing public transportation.
Another bright point of moving to Manhattan from Brooklyn is the convenient transportation.

Sure enough, public transit in New York is quite convenient. However, if you’ve been living in Brooklyn for a while, you know that this borough might be a bit of an exemption. Luckily, since you’re moving to Manhattan from Brooklyn, you’re in for a treat. You will be able to easily get around this borough with subway or a bus. So, it’s time to say goodbye to all of that extra money you’ve spent on random taxi rides. Also, a great thing about Manhattan is that it’s pedestrian friendly, unlike Brooklyn. Sure enough, there is room for a person traveling by foot in both boroughs. However, in the latter, it takes about the same time by subway with a transfer and by foot to reach your destination. In Manhattan, you won’t have this problem!

Moving to Manhattan from Brooklyn doesn’t mean that you can’t keep some of the routine

Among the numerous denizens of Brooklyn, a large number loves taking care of themselves. One of the perfect ways to do this is by using Citi Bike. If you haven’t discovered the magic of these vehicles, you probably haven’t been in Brooklyn long enough. Often, when the weather is nice, it’s much more convenient to use Citi Bikes than the subway. It’s less expensive and available at every corner. So, we’d like to tell you that you won’t need to give up this healthy habit of cruising the streets on a bike. In fact, they are much more popular in Manhattan than in Brooklyn. So, if you’re among those who still haven’t made the commitment of a subscription, this is the perfect time. Especially if you’re going to be making your Brooklyn move in the summer. The best part of Citi Bike in this borough might be, though, that it will save you more than just a few bucks on MetroCard and taxi fares…

There is no confusion regarding gas providers when moving from BK to Manhattan

Do you remember the first week after moving to Brooklyn? If you were among some of the less lucky first-time homeowners, you had a run in with the National Grid. In other words, Brooklyn and Queens have a completely different gas company as their provider. And, more than often, paying for these utilities is not specifically indicated in the contract with the landlord. So, you may have gone without gas the first week or two. It’s time to rejoice. Manhattan needs no written instructions for gas utilities. So, it doesn’t matter if you’re moving to Manhattan from Brooklyn in the colder months. You won’t need to suffer the cold showers and nights in a sleeping bag for warmth. It’s definitely another perk of moving to Manhattan in the winter.

You like pizza? – Embrace the dollar slices of Manhattan at any time after relocating

Moving to Manhattan from Brooklyn will have you loving the dollar slice pizza!
If you’re going to be moving to Manhattan, you’re going to love the pizza!

From time to time you just get that craving for a slice of pizza at an ungodly hour? Unfortunately, in Brooklyn, this means creating your own bread and ketchup version of the Italian masterpiece. Or, if you’ve got some cash on hand, take-out. If that’s the case, then moving to Manhattan from Brooklyn might just be the perfect thing for you. We’ve got two reasons. First, you will be happy to know that your favorite pizza place will likely be open for business even after 11 pm. And, the other reason for joy should probably be the infamous dollar slice in Manhattan. You may need to browse a bit to find the perfect place for a good one. However, after you have the address, you’re likely to become a regular. If you don’t want to go searching about for a good spot, ask your cheap NYC movers for a recommendation. Likely, they are familiar with the spots in your new neighborhood.

Moving from Brooklyn to Manhattan means embracing minimalism to the core

Have you heard the myths about the size of apartments in Manhattan? Unfortunately, they aren’t exaggerated one bit in most cases. So, if you’re going to be relocating to Manhattan from Brooklyn, start the mental preparations early. Sure, you may be closer to the club scene now. Yes, you will likely be going out with your friends more now that you’re near them. Likely, your new apartment will become their pre-outing spot. But, before moving into your new Manhattan flat, you’ll likely need to get rid of a lot of your belongings. There is always the option of affordable Brooklyn storage, but it isn’t a good long-term solution.

A relocation from Brooklyn to Manhattan also means more expenses

If you're relocating to Manhattan from Brooklyn you're going to have to adjust to the budget change.
One downside of moving to Manhattan is the rise in costs…

Most people move to Manhattan only after they get promoted. Common sense? We’d agree that it is. After all, rent is quite a bit more expensive in Manhattan. Hence, moving from Brooklyn makes sense only after a raise. And, even then, you’ll likely find yourself thinking if you’ve made the right decision. While the grass is always greener on the other side, we’ll leave it to you to decide. Is more money for everyday expenses worth the convenience of location? If you’re going to move from Brooklyn to Manhattan, make sure that you’ve considered all of the pros and cons on each side before booking your relocation. And also, what is it that you want from your neighborhood? Affordability? Convenience? Size of the apartment? All of this will influence your decision to go from living in BK to being a resident of Manhattan…
