Storage units are a very useful thing indeed. They give us an option to have more possessions than we really have space for at our hose. A space for that reserve of things we need. However, that is not to say that you can simply dump just about anything in any way possible in your storage and respect good results. No, you will need to know how to store things, especially when storing your electronics is in question. That is why we made this little guide on how to do it.

Storing your electronics according to plan

First, of all, you will need a plan before your choice among the best moving companies Brooklyn moves you to your new home and your electronics to their temporary/permanent home. Anyway, good chances are that you are storing your electronics as a way to downsize your current home.

What to do with your electronics?

That is a perfectly understandable reason do store some of your things. However, not everything is to be kept when you are downsizing. Therefore, the first step in storing your electronics is picking out exactly what you want to be stored and what device has reached its retirement age. You should make a list with all of your electronic devices on it and arrange them by usefulness (and frequency of use). Once you find those that are not worth storing, you have 4 options:

  • Donate. Charities from around the country need all kind things, old electronics included. Instead of storing your electronics (those which are out of regular use), you can always gift them to your local charity. They will be happy to take old TVs, DVD players, personal computers, etc.
  • Sell. Or, alternatively, you can make a quick buck out of selling your old gaming consoles, your personal computer, etc. Anything can be of use to anybody!
  • Recycle. You can also recycle the parts of your nonfunctional devices.
  • Scrap. finally, should you lack any other way to use them or recycle them, simply scrap them in the appropriate way? Be wary that electronics often have regulations on their disposal.

Disassemble the electronics and clean them

But what about those electronic devices you are going to store in a cheap storage New York? Well, for them, the first step is to clean them. Cleaning should be done with a lot of care and methodically.

Clean your devices!

Just as pedantic and methodical as the cleaning should the process of disassembly be done, if possible. Be sure to follow the manual. That way you will know how not to damage the electronic devices in the process.

Pack and store

Once you have finished cleaning your electronics you can be processed to packing them. In order to pack your devices, you will have to find an appropriate box. A box you bought the device in is the best one. If not, find a box that is just big enough to live some room for cushioning material, but not so large as to not keep it in place. Once you are storing your electronics, be sure not to store anything heavy upon anything light. With screens avoid any kind of weight at all costs.

In summary

With these simple steps, you should be storing your electronics with ease. Good luck!

These guys are TRUE PROFESSIONALS! We've now moved with them twice (once in 2017 and then again this week) and we really can't say enough good things about them. Simi is incredibly easy to work with for scheduling and quotes, and the crews - John, Super Mario, and everyone - are just awesome. They're quick, incredibly careful and conscientious, and super friendly. If we ever move again (and god I hope we don't have to) we're absolutely calling them.
